Background
Overview
The Ministry of Industrial Development, Entrepreneurship and Transport Sabah (MINDET) has been entrusted with managing Industrial Development and Entrepreneurial Development in the State of Sabah.
In the Government Gazette in 1989, the Ministry was assigned the following functions:
- To coordinate, implement, review and monitor all industrial development activities in Sabah
- To regulate industrial training in Sabah
- To accelerate industrial development in rural areas
- To coordinate all activities related to the State’s interests in trade and industry
In line with technological advancement and progress, the functions of this Ministry have been realigned according to current needs.

Mission
1. To develop a dynamic and sustainable Industrial Sector through investment promotion, development of industrial infrastructure and entrepreneurship.
2. To increase the contribution of the Manufacturing Sector to Sabah State GDP: 2025 = RM10 Billion | 2030 = RM15 Billion | 2035 = RM20 Billion | 2040 = RM30 Billion
3. To enhance the capability of Small and Medium Industries (SMIs) as key supporting industries and catalysts for manufacturing industry development.
Objectives
Responsible for Industrial Development, Entrepreneurial Development, Bumiputera Economic Development of Sabah, Downstream Industry Development, Petroleum & Gas and Palm Oil-based Industry Development, and Strengthening Industrial Investment.
Client Charter
